Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

Wait a Rap/Hip-Hop song about gay marriage… Yes.  First, they made it okay to be like me and wear clothes you still had from high school or that cool starter jacket you found at Goodwill or the teenage mutant ninja turtles shirt from the local thrift store.  They didn’t stop by smacking all those artists and stars in the face for making it cool to wear a few hundred or thousand dollar outfits.  They continued to slap all those who still remain in the past and hate on gays and not accept gay marriage.  I have to give respect for Ryan Lewis and Macklemore, they gave a great interview with Colbert and they do things that many artist today leave out of their songs and that is emotion and a sense of reality.  Just look at Macklemore throw his arms in the air and check out Lewis singing along with the chorus of this song, you can tell Macklemore and Ryan Lewis put emotion into their music!  Check out the interview that took place before the performance here.

These Lyrics in the song mean a lot to me:
We press play, don’t press pause
Progress, march on
With the veil over our eyes
We turn our back on the cause
Till the day that my uncles can be united by law
When kids are walking ’round the hallway plagued by pain in their heart
A world so hateful some would rather die than be who they are
And a certificate on paper isn’t gonna solve it all
But it’s a damn good place to start
No law is gonna change us
We have to change us
Whatever God you believe in
We come from the same one
Strip away the fear
Underneath it’s all the same love
About time that we raised up
