Jimi

Jimi still might be the best guitarist of all time even.  He admits that he couldn’t read music he would just jam out and repeat his style.  Everytime I hear a Hendrix song, I wonder if Rock & Roll would be more alive today.  One of my favorite verses in rock is “Excuse me while I kiss the sky”.

Stevie Ray Vaughan

Just another classic Rock and Roll hit that my parents would love.  Everyone can go back to the days when they would get in the car before their parents and find out what their parent were rocking out to, that is if you could beat them before mom or dad changed it!

Korn Skrillex

Wait…yes it does say Rock/Dubstep in the title and it mashes really well.  It is me or is rock the ultimate mash up music, they had Jay-Z and Linken Park with Collision Course , then Jay and Coldplay in Viva La Hova, and now Korn has an album with multiple DJs, The Path of Totality.

I caught this song on the wonderful music app known as Pandora.  Pearl Jam is a great band that has a variety of hard to softer alternative rock songs.  This song captures a lot of feelings and is originally about a small town girl who doesn’t recognize a gentlemen and after a while she realizes who it really is and is too embarrassed to say hello.  WARNING: If you don’t like deep shit stop reading! This song reminds me of that feeling you get when you randomly run into someone you haven’t seen in forever.  I think that feeling hurts and helps people get over relationships.  If the relationship went well the possibility of that feeling gives you closer because you know when you see them again you will get that feeling.  If the relationship went bad it doesn’t allow you to get that closer and makes you nervous because you have no idea how you both will react when/if you run into that person again.

Yes Matchbox Twenty is still around and about to become relevant again.  Check out their hit She’s So Mean below.  This group has had hits in the past like Real World and If Your Gone and they are bringing their 90s sound to the present check out their latest album More Than You Think You Are.

I love when people like to compare the same old song to a new rendition of one.  Do people even know what kind of balls it takes to try to duplicate the likes of some of these songs?  I know I don’t, I have never and probably will never Karaoke in my life.  I just give credit where credit is due and both of these versions are damn good.

The Original is GREAT!

This one is too!!!

So if you haven’t heard this version it is the ultimate think to song.  Many people have someone in their lives that remind them of this song, me included.  If you haven’t heard “Simple Man” the original by Lynyrd Skynyrd you can find it here.  Many songs can’t and shouldn’t be duplicated but this one was and Shinedown did it’s due  justice and created a great songs as well.  Enjoy!!!

Hands down one of the best bands ever, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, find another way to amaze their fans.  This could very easily be one of their best songs, and it is on their latest album!  The album titled “I’m With You” that was released in 2011.  This band seems to make hit after hit ever since their first album back in 1984.  Feel free to chill and let your mind roam this is defiantly on of those “think to this” type tracks.

After talking with a few gentlemen at work about music, the classic rock genre was brought up.  I forgot about the discussion until I went to dinner with my parents and my mother wouldn’t stop belting out lyrics to old school rock, like the Beetles, Steve Miller Band, and Tom Petty.  As she was singing I remember the song “Amie” by the Pure Prairie League.  I remember these rock & roll bands and realized that other than some of the Foo Fighters songs the genre is pretty much dead if not it is on it’s death bed.  It is just sad the think that great karaoke songs like these are gone for good.  I will still always have my old school playlist with some of these tunes on it just to rock out whenever I feel like it.
